Shoshin Ryu is a dynamic, Japanese based martial art that meets the self-defense challenges of the times as well as honors the spirit of previous generations.  It is a non-competitive, comprehensive martial art where students develop effective and practical self-defense skills.  Shoshin Ryu synergistically combines atemi waza (striking techniques), kansetsu waza (joint locking techniques), kyusho waza (pressure point techniques), nage waza (throwing techniques), ne waza (ground/grappling techniques), shime waza (choking techniques) and ukemi (falling skills). Students develop efficient, effective and powerful physical techniques through proper body mechanics, breathing and relaxation, as well as learn mental skills including awareness and focus.  Please see LaShoshin.org for further information on the art.
